Having been in financial dire straits before, we know how it is to be unable to buy food and other essentials like soap, TP, shampoo, etc. Many here in Level Cross are faced with financial challenges. It’s our desire, as a church, to help in any way we can.
No one in Level Cross should have to go to bed hungry.
That is why we are establishing this “Critical Care” ministry to help in times of need.
We do not want to create a culture of dependency. Whenever we help someone, we want to be able to establish a relationship and work with them to improve their situation. We’re going to make sure that they know that God loves them, Jesus died for them, and that He is Jehovah Jireh, our Provider. If we can pray with someone, help them find meaningful work, make their money stretch longer, or show them resources to provide long-term help, we will do so.
We will be offering food (canned goods, frozen meats, fresh vegetables when available) and sundries (soap, TP, laundry detergent, feminine supplies, etc.) to families in need. To qualify, families must live within the Level Cross Fire District or right on the border of it, and must have an immediate food/supplies crisis. (If you live outside our local area and need help with food, we may be able to refer you to another church/agency who will be able to provide immediate assistance). Church membership is not required.
A freezer has been donated. We’re making room for it now. We’re also making room to store food donations.
This ministry needs:
- A refrigerator - any size will do, and since we have a chest freezer the size of the freezer on the fridge is unimportant.
- Shelving (any sort will work, but we prefer sturdy but lightweight metal shelving because it’s easy to move around and height-flexible)
- Food and sundries. If you’ve got a pantry with some canned goods, frozen food, a stockpile of dish soap, or whatever, please donate it!! Sometimes companies like to donate day-old bread, slightly bent cans, samples, etc. Please ask your company and see if they would like to donate!
- Cash donations, to buy food when there’s need, and to cover expenses such as electricity for the freezers. (accounting info is available - every penny given to this ministry goes to this ministry, period!)
We will provide you with a tax-deductible receipt for all donations. We realize that most people do not give so that they can take it off on their taxes, but if you should choose to, you can!
If you’re in Level Cross and have a need or would like to donate something, please let us know.
